Our new Parish Priest licensed at Synod

The Opening Eucharist of the Diocese of Cyprus and the Gulf Synod 2024, saw two Priests licensed to the “Cure of Souls” in their parishes, Reverend Gillian Nisbet – Abu Dhabi and our Reverend Paul Carr – Paphos.
Although, ideally, everyone of the Anglican Church of Paphos would have wished to witness Reverend Paul making his “Declaration of Assent” and taking his “Oath of Canonical Obedience” to Archbishop Hosam Naoum, the acting bishop of our Diocese, however, this was just not possible with Synod being so soon after Paul’s arrival and needing him to take full part in the House of Clergy at this Synod. Nevertheless, there were three members of the Church Council present to witness this special occasion in our and Reverend Paul’s life. Prior to coming to Cyprus Paul was Team Rector of the Billericay and Little Burstead Team Ministry, Essex.
Reverend Paul will be formally welcomed into the Anglican Church of Paphos on a date to be decided and we all do look forward to a long and fruitful time with us.
