Baptism / Christening

One of the greatest and most joyful Christian celebrations is the baptism of a person, whether as a baby, child, or as an adult.

Baptism is the beginning of a journey with the Christian Faith and the worldwide Christian family which will continue for the remainder of that person’s life. Whatever the age of the person, the church gladly receives those who desire to respond to God’s love in baptism.
Often the baptism of infants is referred to as a Christening. During the service of Baptism, parents thank God for his gift of life, make a decision to start their child on a journey of faith and godparents, speaking on behalf of the child, promise their help and support as their godchild grows up in the Christian faith. The church also promises to welcome the child and to pray for the family.
We are always delighted to talk to people who are thinking about having their children baptised or are themselves wanting to know more about baptism.
