Care in the Community
People are the mainstay of any community be it church members or local residents. Historically, the church with the village or local pub, often to be found opposite, were the centres of community life with many activities being centred on or around them.
Times change but the church still plays an important role in the life of the local community. At ACP our care in the community activities exemplify the ways we are involved/contribute.
Congregations at two of our three churches have food collection points, at Ayia Kyriaki supporting Caritas and St Luke’s, Solidarity, on a weekly basis.
Until March 2022, St Stephen’s in Tala, did not have a weekly project in place, but members of the congregation are now running a scheme to collect dry food, clothes and household items. These are being distributed to those people who have been identified as being most in need in the Paphos area. The scheme is being operated alongside Dawn Porter, a social worker for ‘Human Kind, A Helping Hand’, with input from the Mayor of Tala.
For further information about or offers of help for the Stephen’s project please contact Rema Lawson or Kevin Townsend at St Stephen’s. For the other projects, contact one of the church wardens listed under each church on the website.
