See more images from the Festival HERE. It could have been the biggest disaster! Eight of the flower arrangers were unavailable, through illness, broken limbs, relocation to the UK and holidays and on set-up day the heavens opened and we all got drenched! But then fate took a hand and, despite a very dubious weather forecast, we had three wonderful days with lots of visitors and a 10th Anniversary Flower Festival, which was truly memorable. The lovely old Church of Ayia Kyriaki was adorned with well over 1,500 blooms; arrange in 24 floral displays each depicting a quotation from the Biblical Book of Proverbs. The heady perfume of the flowers as one entered the Church was quite heavenly and the arrangements brought many comments and compliments. The musical events each evening were very well received and the closing ‘Songs of Praise” service on the Friday evening filled the Church to capacity. The programme for the Wednesday evening by the newly formed ‘Paphos Voices’ was very sensitively chosen and performed to perfection as was Paul Timmins’ Organ Recital on the Thursday evening. The Festival, which is organized by members of the Anglican Church, the Latin Catholic Parish and the Paphos Flower Club is all in aid of charity. It is hoped to continue the annual Flower Festival in 2014, but a firm date has yet to be confirmed. The Paphos Flower Club are always looking for new members and would be delighted to hear from anyone who has an interest in Floral Art, both complete beginners and more experienced flower arrangers.
