Tala Wildfire letter

2/7/2021

Dear All,
As you will know a disastrous wildfire raged through parts of Tala on Saturday. Considerable damage was caused to four houses and three were completely destroyed. Several of our parishioners who live in the area were affected but thankfully their property was largely undamaged.
Tala is within our parish and although it is difficult for us as a community to quickly rally to provide support, I thought that the article in today’s edition of the Cyprus Mail could usefully be brought to your attention. Not only does it outline some of the frightening damage caused by the fire and the devastation on individuals and families, it also helpfully highlights a giving page where you can make a donation to assist those who have been severely affected. The article can be accessed here or by clicking on:
 https://cyprus-mail.com/2021/06/29/community-rallies-to-help-families-that-lost-all-in-tala-fire/
The giving page that has been set up is listed at the bottom of the article or you can click on it here.
It may be the case that some of you have already donated but here is a practical way to provide support and I thought it useful to draw it to everyone’s attention. Those who have been affected may not be parishioners, but they are on our ‘patch’ and our thoughts and prayers, and generosity are extended to all of them.
Reverend Andrew
