Why Was Jesus Baptised? This is a copy of my talk given at Ayia Kyriaki and Saint Stephens in the Anglican Church of Paphos on Sunday 4 January 2026. The Lectionary Bible Reading was Matthew 2:1-12. It is the well-known story about how the ‘Wise Men’ (Or Magi) were guided to Bethlehem, by a star, to meet the infant Lord Jesus. Epiphany is celebrated on 6 January.
