Blessing of Pets. For more photos of this event click HERE. Although there had been rain in surrounding areas the sun shone brightly for the “Blessing of Pets “ to mark St Francis Of Assisi Day . This service is held annually on 4th October and is run jointly between the Latin Catholics and the Anglican Church in the tree area outside Ayia Kyriaki Church , by St. Paul’s Pillar . This year 25 people and 2 children attended with their dogs [ 13 of them ]. All the dogs got along with each other very well , it is almost as if they realise the special nature of their outing . It is a short service of prayers and a Bible reading and then each owner and pet companion is Blessed by one of the Priests. We would welcome any type of pet to the service so put the date in your diary for next year and come along.

Songs of Praise in the Park For more photos of this event please click HERE. On a warm Saturday evening, 1st of October, 38 members from our three churches, as well as members from other denominations and local people from Polis, met together in Ayios Andronikas Park in Polis to sing well-known hymns and listen to poems and readings on the theme of Faith. During the service, a collection was made for the Dreamland Mission Hospital in Kenya, a charity close to the hearts of the congregation of St Luke’s, which made €205. After the service a group of 18 went for an enjoyable meal at the local Moustakallis Restaurant. We look forward to welcoming you and many others to next years’ service. As an added bonus, 150 euros were donated to church funds. Many thanks for supporting this annual event. Annual Summer BBQ For more photos of this event please click HERE. Great location, great company, great weather and, most importantly, great food all came together for our reinstated annual BBQ in Pikni Forest following a three year absence due to Covid restrictions. 48 people from all three churches and some very welcome visitors gathered for a wonderful and successful evening. As usual at a BBQ the male 'chefs' were slaving over the hot coals fulfilling our needs. As a 'bonus' the event raised nearly 300 euros for church funds. We look forward to seeing you at our next social event which is an afternoon boat trip and BBQ on Thursday 8 September from Latchi harbour. |
