Pope Francis (1936-2025): The People’s Pope Geoffrey’s Funeral takes place at Saint Stephen’s, Tala on Friday 25 April at 11.00 am followed by interment at the New Cemetery, Tala at 12.15 pm.
UPDATE: It was such a privilege to lead this service today on behalf of the family and friends of the late Geoffrey Taylor, OBE - a member of the Anglican Church of Paphos worshipping at Saint Stephen's. From humble beginnings, Geoffrey led an amazing life working in Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Singapore, finally settling here in Paphos over twenty years ago. In the words of his children Geoffrey's life was a life filled with faith and was a 'A Life Well Lived.' Geoffrey was reunited in death with Denise, his wife of 64 years, who died in 2020. A life well lived is a precious gift Of hope and strength and grace, From someone who has made our world A brighter, better place It’s filled with moments, sweet and sad With smiles and sometimes tears, With friendships formed and good times shared And laughter through the years. A life well lived is a legacy Of joy and pride and pleasure, A living, lasting memory Our grateful hearts will treasure. When I lived/served in Billericay, Essex, I wrote regular articles for the Billericay & Wickford Gazette. Martin Neal, a journalist friend of mine, wrote a very generous article about my recent promotion to Archdeacon in Cyprus.
You can also read the article online here Popular former Billericay minister promoted to Archdeacon in Cyprus ... in the space of a single week, a church can have a Palm Sunday service, a communion or Lord’s supper on the Thursday, a Good Friday service and then, with a mere day’s pause for breath, an Easter Sunday celebration.

A Meditative Reflection for Good Friday What is Good Friday and why do we call Good Friday “good,” when it is such a dark and bleak event commemorating a day of suffering and death for Jesus?
Why Good Friday? – revPACman Today is known in some parts of the world as ‘Spy Wednesday.’ The day you betray Jesus for 30 pieces of silver. I write to you from many years ahead to ask you to reconsider. In this brief letter, I want to tell you why you should not betray him.
Dear Judas … For each day during Holy Week there is a short prayer and a few Bible verses for reflection, which will help you to fix your eyes on Jesus during this most poignant of weeks in the Christian church.
