Some of you will remember Dave and Fran who were on placement in ACP when Revd Andrew was the priest and their regular attendance at our services over the years when visiting Cyprus. Dave and Fran believe that God has placed Paphos on their heart and have made the decision to move here and to offer their support to the mission and ministry of the parish. Bishop Sean is willing to grant them PTO licenses. This is exciting news for all of us. You can read more about them below ...

Dave and Fran married in 1984 in Liverpool where they lived and had their children, until 1999 when they felt drawn back to Frans home, the Isle of Man. Work wise Dave’s experience prior alongside ordained ministry was in social work and Fran’s is in nursing.

They both have an eclectic, broad Church background involving many traditions and various denominations ranging from Evangelical/Charismatic to Church planting to High Church Anglicanism. They felt called back to the Church of England in 2015 and went to theological college between 2017 -2019. They were ordained in 2019 and were curates running a Parish in Rochdale together with a view to pioneering a new congregation drawn from largely unchurched people, alongside that they ran a high Church based on the large council estate. They returned to the Isle of Man after the tragic loss of their daughter and stayed on the Island to be with their sons. They have moved to Cyprus very recently after 13 years of visiting the Island and having done their secondary placement whilst in ordination training with Rev Andrew Burtt. They are excited to see what unfolds for them here.

Recent Church and Retreat experience. Isle of Man

Church at ‘The Cat with no Tail Pub’ Ecumenical informal gathering led by a lay reader.
Speaking, leading services (Fairly informal and Liturgy Light) on a rota basis at Church.  Leading a small home group occasionally, Fran led worship songs. Both led a prayer walk around the estate where the church is.  Both Invited people to services at Easter by giving easter eggs out at local shops, chatting to people and offering a welcome leaflet. Fran shared a testimony of personal healing at a healing service, and both did anointing of oil for healing at the service. Led a Songs of Praise service a few times.

Dave & Fran Led a New Wine prayer event together encouraging people to share scriptures and prophetic words, and pray for the Island. (New initiative from the Archdeacon).  Fran supervised one lay reader in training and mentored one person on the growing leader’s course. This past year both have been mentoring and supporting a couple whilst they have been planting a Vineyard church locally. The first one on the Island (Dave is a Trustee), Fran and Dave have planted a Church in the past, and been involved in a Vineyard Church plant in the past as well.

At the Retreat House Isle of Man
Both led morning prayer and communion services very regularly. Fran has Led occasional events such as a Christmas event for volunteers, sharing a reflection, leading   sung worship etc. Both listened to and prayed with people one to one who were on retreat as they journeyed with God. Both responsible for welcoming, hosting people and organising the kitchen /cooking/ rooms, working alongside team and volunteers. Fran organised the team of Volunteers in general. Both helped get policies and procedures in place E.G. Safeguarding, Health and Safety.

Chaplaincy Emmanuel Theological College
Fran has been doing some Chaplaincy work for the theological college between October 2024 to the present, which involves meeting with individual students at their request to provide a pastoral listening ear, support, praying with and looking out for and reporting any safeguarding issues that may arise during the sessions. Fran has offered to attend a few residentials in the coming year (2026) and has been asked to continue to support one student and his wife (with Dave), this will take place on Zoom.

Fran and Dave will be continuing to support the Pastors of Vineyard Isle of Man and a few other leaders as they continue to Church Plant on the Isle of man, Dave continues to be a trustee of this Church. This will take place on Zoom. In recent months while planning to move to Cyprus Dave has celebrated Holy Communion at Kirk Patrick Parish.

Incidental Ministry
Fran spoke on Songs of Praise on TV in 2022, sharing some of our story of bereavement which led Fran to volunteer at the Cathedral Isle of Man gardens. Informally over the years we have frequented a few of the local pubs where we have developed friendships and occasionally chatted to people who have posed questions about God or the Christian Faith.
